For many entrepreneurs its almost about building business that has a good turn over specially in societies where environment of investment lacking stability..so the choice here to play it safe, focusing on accelerate reaching break-even point down to Return on investment by giving people a substitute or alternative for a brand they have used to..
Actually its possible but never said that its going to be easy as you want to stand out as a brand while there are many brands that serve the same good ,the same need and exist in market (may be before you ) for example PERSIL and ARIEL … may be the look alike on surface but with a scoop look you will find many differences whether for qualities , packaging or the message which stimulates your subconscious for a certain choice as polar opposites not a look like products .
(Me too ) products usually appear in a highly competitive market that enhance potential of growth ,it can link to other society categories within market that supports a specific type of service /product and it could be a chance in an area where the main product isn’t reachable or reasonable enough for consumer
But when it comes to building a brand it's not just about imitation or being a substitute for an existed service/ product not mentioning cost deduction as well ,for this strategy could generate sales on the short term but wouldn't be a choice for creating your own known chain .
starting from the first glimpse on your sign from a passer by until the last contact between a consumer and your entity ,here when it comes the role of consumer research lifting up other factors as it gives you a better understanding of gaps in market offerings for the same product & what customers expect from you in the same way
, provide a better understanding of target market ,extend product life-cycle ,reduction of customer's acquisition cost when its needed and finally identify the best strategy for marketing a (ME too) product while launching or in the successive stages of product life cycle .
